Case Study: Helped a Client Diversify Their Workforce

Case Studies

Helped a Client Diversify Their Workforce

1.Background

As businesses look for ways to enhance their company culture and overall productivity rate, they recognize areas that need improvement. Workforce diversity is a growing demand for most companies because studies have shown a diverse workforce increases productivity and boosts employee morale by helping employees feel welcome and valued.

2.Business Challenge

Our client was challenged with finding diverse workers to fill key roles across their facilities in the U.S. One of the client facilities located in Millersburg, PA was especially challenged to find qualified workers to fill open positions and was lacking diversity in the existing workforce.

Millersburg, PA has a population of less than 2600 people and its main demographic is Caucasian (98%). Harrisburg, PA is the largest nearby metro which is located 25 miles South of Millersburg. Finding enough talent from the local market presents many challenges for the client, but they had been unable to find workers from non-white backgrounds and needed help solving the issue.

3.Solution

TekWissen Group was onboarded as a supplier to the Medical Device client program in March 2019.

TekWissen was able to tap into a pool of foreign workers with legal immigration, and work authorization, status to bring a fresh prospective on how to solve the diversity of talent issue. The workers we identified had all the requisite engineering or manufacturing skills required for the position. They were willing to relocate to Millersburg, PA with support provided by TekWissen.

Here are some of the keys to success:
  • Attracted a uniquely qualified talent pool with authorizations to work in the United States
  • Provided training and upskilling opportunities to the resources
  • Offered work opportunities in multiple locations and client sites across the country
  • Provided corporate housing and relocation assistance to the resources
4.Results Delivered

In 2019 TekWissen Group filled 64 QA Engineer, Production Assembler or Manufacturing Process Associate positions with candidates from Asian and South Asian backgrounds. Through October 2020 TekWissen Group has filled 88 additional positions in the Millersburg, PA facility.

TekWissen has also helped the client fill 52 other positions with diverse workers across 15 U.S. locations during the same period.

Key Statistics
  • 204 total positions filled in <18 months
  • 97% of positions filled with workers from non-white ethnicities
  • 10% of the positions were filled with female workers
